Services: Multicultural Capacity Building

For leaders, programs, organizations and teams to develop the capacity to respond to diverse demographics and work effectively in multicultural contexts, we provide customized support in the following areas:

Communication and Collaboration
Whether delivering a service, working through a conflict, creating a healthy multicultural work environment or working for change on a community level, the ability to establish collaborative multicultural relationships is a core element for success. Mayeno Consulting provides training, facilitation, and coaching to:

  • Define values, vision, and group agreements for multicultural collaboration
  • Engage in courageous conversations about power and privilege
  • Clarify and establish practices for transparency and accountability
  • Integrate attention to culture and difference into practices and operations
  • Build leaders'skills and confidence to model “change agent” behavior

Organizational Development
Being effective in a multicultural context requires more than training front line staff and developing programs. Mayeno Consulting uses a systems approach in supporting organizations, providing assessment, technical assistance, training, planning, facilitation and coaching services to integrate multiculturalism in any or all of the following areas:

  • Organizational values, assumptions and guiding principles
  • Communication and organizational culture
  • Human resource development
  • Leadership development
  • Community and consumer engagement
  • Programs and services

"Laurin's powerful ability to reflect and organize information, and very practical action orientation provided just what we needed to get “un-stuck’ in our work around power and culture... The CVC continues to work to live up to its values, and is on course due to the foundation that Laurin’s skills and vision brought.  We cannot thank her enough!"
